Place to Visit in Madhya Pradesh
Being a large state and central location of India, you can visit number of places in MP. It has been home to cultural heritage of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism
One half of the state is forested and offers a unique panorama of wildlife. There are 10 national parks and 25 wildlife sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh.
In the National Parks of Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Shivpuri and many others visitors have the opportunity to see the tiger, the
bison and a wide variety of deer and antelope.
Madhya Pradesh is also famous for its Khajuraho temples which exhibit the erotic sculptures depicting the
ancient India Kama Sutra text. The great Sanchi Stupa constructed during King Ashoka's reign is situated here in Bhopal.
These three sites in Madhya Pradesh have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO:
- The Khajuraho Group of Monuments (1986)
- Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi (1989)
- The Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka (2003)

Amarkantak is a Hindu Tirtha place, a site where three rivers including the Narmada, Son River start.
Indore is a beautiful and a very good tourist destination.Indore has prospered into being the fourth largest centre of cotton textile industry in India. It is also justly famous for its beautiful bangles. Indore can be called the 'food city'.
Ujjain is the fifth largest city in Madhya Pradesh. It is a famous Hindu pilgrimage centre with the Kumbh Mela held here every 12 years. The famous temple of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is also located in this city.
Sonagiri is one of the most famous such series of Jain Temples built on a hill in Madhya Pradesh near the town of Datia. It's a great way to explore Jain history and the village life of Central India.
Orchha is the erstwhile capital city of the Bundela rulers. The town is famous for its palaces and temples built in the 16th and 17th centuries. Some of them are as follows.
